Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health's (LACDMH) Promoters Program aims to reduce mental health stigma throughout Los Angeles County — particularly in historically underserved cultural and linguistic communities — by increasing awareness about mental health issues, removing barriers, and improving timely access to culturally and linguistically appropriate resources.

SHARE!'s United Mental Health Promoters Program
SHARE!’s United Mental Health Promoters (UMHP) program supports older adults across Los Angeles County with housing assistance, peer-led support groups, social activities, and resources designed to foster long-term stability and connection. The program is dedicated to helping seniors build meaningful community while gaining access to the tools and support they need to thrive.
At the heart of UMHP are Mental Health Promoters - trained, community-based peer workers who offer culturally and linguistically appropriate one-on-one support. By meeting people where they are, Promoters connect individuals with mental health services and community resources tailored to their unique needs, with a focus on serving historically underserved populations.
The UMHP team brings their work directly into the community through partnerships and outreach. They host weekly groups at the Watts Senior Center, offering workshops in arts and crafts, technology, wellness, poetry, storytelling, and more. They also collaborate with the Westside Infant-Family Network (WIN) to provide monthly workshops that create opportunities for connection and growth. Beyond these programs, the team is often seen tabling at community events or bringing groups into local centers to ensure older adults have ongoing access to supportive services.
