2025 Letter From The CEO, Brian D. Ulf

ree

Dear Friends of SHARE!,

As I reflect on my first 18 months at SHARE!, one truth stands out: this work changes lives. Every day, I see people walk in carrying grief, trauma, and fear, and through the power of peers, community, and connection, they begin to heal. It is humbling to witness and it reminds me why our mission matters so deeply.

This year, we strengthened SHARE! from the inside out. We completed a full organizational review, aligned staff with roles where they can thrive, and welcomed new board members who believe deeply in our future. Together, we have built a stronger, more focused SHARE!—one ready to meet the growing needs of Los Angeles County.

Our impact continued to expand. We were awarded funding to open two new peer respites, adding 25 beds and extending peer-led support to hundreds more Angelenos each year. Our Collaborative Housing team now operates 44 homes, continuing SHARE!’s commitment to housing people within 24–48 hours. The SHARE! Recovery Retreat also grew, serving more residents and offering a vital pathway to stability.

We strengthened our Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training Program and became the first organization in California to offer training in both English and Spanish. We also launched the United Mental Health Promoters to support older adults and assembled a new team for the Veteran Peer Access Network, Los Angeles County’s first peer-driven support network for veterans and their families.

With support from a generous philanthropic donor, our SHARE! Young People pilot transformed lives in ways we could not have imagined. What began as a goal to serve 50 Transition-Age Youth became a year of tremendous impact: 140 young people received housing, peer support, and recovery resources throughout Los Angeles County.

Across our peer-run centers, thousands of workshops and self-help groups brought tens of thousands of people together to find hope, healing, and connection. And when wildfires devastated communities last January, SHARE! responded immediately, offering Disaster Support Groups and free meeting space for groups displaced by the fires.

Through every challenge, one belief has guided us: recovery happens in community. None of this impact would be possible without volunteers, donors, and advocates like you.

I am grateful for your commitment to our mission and humbled by your support. Because of you, lives have been transformed.

Wishing you a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season!

With gratitude,

Brian D. Ulf

CEO, SHARE!

As you reflect on your year-end giving, I hope you’ll stand with us and help SHARE! continue to bring healing, housing, and connection to more Angelenos.
